IMAGINE IT’S A FRIDAY or Saturday evening. It’s 2010 and the fifth or sixth of, yes, February; one of those months that seems to linger between Christmas and spring, but we have left all sense of that nondescript season outside. Inside, the Sterndale Bennett Theatre has become a cabaret. The space feels intimate, and the music that fills it is taking us away.
Perhaps it’s a ballad, or something from musical theatre, a classical piece, a jazz standard, or something pop. Maybe it’s a solo by Jordana Kohn or Nicole Higginson with piano accompanist. Perhaps they’re singing a duet. We’re here at Just ‘Cuz and Friends enjoying the show, enjoying the refreshments, wondering if we’ll go home with the item we bid on in the silent auction.
This is the third such event in a series that started in 2008 as Just ‘Cuz, and in 2009 became Just ‘Cuz Encore. As you can see, there’s a theme. Actually there are a couple of themes, and the show is an outcome of the interplay between them.
